Create Multiple Event UI |
This has been implemented in AudienceView 7.6.0. A new tool for creating a batch of events has been added to the Event Configuration application Events|Basic page.
The tool can be used to create a batch of events either from scratch or by using an existing event as a template.
To create a batch of events from scratch, switch the new toggle at the top of the page from 'Create Single Event' to 'Create Multiple Events'. Then input/select all of the relevant values, including: •A 'First Date' and 'Last Date' for the range of events •The 'Days' of the week that events should be created for •An 'Event Code Format' which will determine the structure of the event codes for each event. Once the information has been completed, click 'Create Events'. This will trigger a scheduled job that will create the events.
To create a batch from an existing event, load the source event before switching the toggle from 'Create Single Event' to 'Create Multiple Events'. This pre-populates the information about the event.
Users wanting to create a batch of events which do not have a regular weekly schedule, or where the start times vary, have the option to use the Create Multiple Events Data Monkey script.
Known Limitations: •The feedback provided after clicking 'Create Events' is limited to displaying the “Scheduled task created” message. Improvements will be made to provide more feedback about the batches the status (AVD-12695). •The tool uses the 'Save Copy' functionality to create events. There is currently another known issue regarding 'Save Copy' being slow (AVD-12198), so the batch create tool is also slow. The 'Save Copy' speed issue has been resolved in AudienceView 7.7.0 so users will see a significant improvement in the performance of the batch creation tool in the next release. •Once the batch job is created, the first event created in the batch will become the currently loaded event. If the user created a batch using an existing event as the source, that source event will no longer be the currently loaded event. We are investigating ways to retain the source event as the loaded event. •It is possible for the user to select a combination of 'First Date', 'Last Date' and 'Days' of the Week which will result in invalid dates and thus no events will be created. Currently, when the user clicks 'Create Events' in this scenario, the page refreshes with no message is displayed. A dedicated message for this scenario will be added in a future release (AVD-12694). |
