Testing the Google Tag Manager Installation

Now you are ready to test that Google Tag Manager is up and running on your website. As we mentioned before, there are number of ways to confirm that Google Tag Manager is running correctly. The easiest is to use the Google Tag Manager Chrome or Firefox extension.

 

It’s a good practice at this point to clear your browser’s cache, follow your browser’s documentation to do this. This will ensure that when you view your site you will see the latest changes to the website.

 

Once that is done you can open up your site:

1.Click the 'Google Tag Manager Extension' button.

2.The first time you run the extension you will be prompted to choose which types of tags you want to check for, leave them all checked and click 'Done'.
Google Tag Assistant will then ask you how you would like to check this page.

 

Choose the option to ' Always check this domain'.

 

Google Tag Assistant will provide you with a report of the tags that it finds on the page. If everything is configured correctly your report will look like this:
