Some of these terms in this document may be new to you, so we have provided some definitions.

Tokenization

Tokenization is the process of replacing a piece of precious data, like the credit card or payment account number, with a token that has no meaning without the context. AudienceView Unlimited never converts a token into the card number, but a token is as useful within AudienceView Unlimited as the card number. You can use it to refund the original payment. New payments can use tokens as well as scheduled payments and renewal payments. Using tokens allows you to use all of the great features you get

Masked Card Numbers

A masked card number occurs when asterisks replace all but a few digits of the card number. You see them on bank statements and payment receipts. They look like ************4242. We keep the last four digits of the card number so that you can match a transaction to the card that made the payment. We actually store the asterisks. You may add the masked card number to your Default Order Search BI for credit card lookup.

P2PE (Point to Point Encryption)

P2PE requires that you use a special device, in this case an encrypted swipe/keypad to enter credit card numbers instead of your keyboard. It is more secure than using your keyboard, where someone could be watching or recording the information you enter. It means that the plain card number does not enter your network. Staff cannot decrypt the card numbers.

POI (Point of Input)

Point of input manager.  Bluefin’s PCI-DSS P2PE POI Manager, where one activates and monitors P2PE and EMV devices.

PCI (Payment Card Industry)

The organizational body that governs the standard for credit card number storage and security.

EMV (Eurocard, MasterCard, Visa)

EMV is a standard for encrypted devices using a chip terminal. This will be an integrated system. When you process a payment in person, AudienceView Unlimited will trigger the pin pad to light up and start communicating instructions to the customer, likely starting with a variation of Insert Card. Once the customer is done, you will see the Acceptance or Decline on your order screen. If the card is chip and signature, you will print a receipt to be signed. If the card requires a PIN, the pin pad will prompt.

NFC (Near Field Communication)

Tap to pay. Near field communication requires a card or an app that is NFC capable. The customer will tap the card or phone onto the terminal when prompted. The terminal will treat this the same as a PIN transaction. Usually you do not need to sign or enter a PIN.

ACH (Automated Clearing House)

ACH refers to direct debit or electronic check payments. The details of the customers’ bank accounts can be entered (the routing number and bank account number) as a payment. The payment debits from the customers’ accounts. ACH processes in one or two days and you will find out faster if there is a case of non-sufficient funds.

Transparent Redirect/Hosted Payments Page

This is another security measure meant to reduce PCI scope online. When a user enters a payment, Bluefin will serve up a page that connects to Bluefin directly, records the payment information, and sends the approval or decline back to AudienceView Unlimited. There are different methods to use in different cases.
