The following assumptions were made when writing this section:
•Your mobile computer is a Symbol MC50 or MC3090 model.
•Your mobile computer is running Windows Mobile 2003 (MC50) or Windows CE 5.0 (MC3090).
•You have set up the equipment required to run the Wireless Local Area Network (WLAN). WLANs allow mobile computers to communicate wirelessly and to send captured data to a host device in real-time. Refer to the documentation that came with the Access Points (APs) for instructions on setting up the hardware.
•If your WLAN only supports Wired Equivalent Privacy (WEP), you have implemented a Secure Socket Layer (SSL) to ensure the encryption of all transmitted data. If you are using Wi-Fi Protected Access (WPA), SSL is not required.
•Your mobile computer is configured to connect to your WLAN. Refer to your model’s Integrator Guide for more information on configuring wireless applications. For more information, refer to Additional Access Control Documentation.
•Microsoft ActiveSync software is installed on both the mobile computer and a host computer and that you are familiar with how to use it. ActiveSync synchronizes information on a desktop computer (host) with information on the mobile computer and updates both with the most recent information. If you are unfamiliar as to how to use Microsoft ActiveSync, refer to the Microsoft Applications for Mobile and WinCE 5.0 User Guide. For more information, refer to Additional Access Control Documentation.
