Site Menu & Sub-Menu Tips & Tricks
Below are some tips and tricks for online menus.
Menu Types •Primary: Appears directly below the header of your page by default. This is best used as the main navigation tool for your page •Utility: Appears in a smaller font above the header of your page by default. •Secondary: Not currently in use.
Default Menu Items Each menu has an item that renders automatically because its value is conditional based on the current state of the site and page the customer is on. Primary menus display a different 'Help' article based on the page the customer is on. Utility menus display either Login or Logout, depending on whether the customer is logged in or not. These items can only be removed using CSS, though we don't recommend removing them.
Sub-Menu Items You can add sub-menu items that can dropdown from main menu items. To add items, click on the '+' button next to the main menu item on the Sites|Menus page. If you use a sub-menu, do not add a link to the top menu item.
Sorting Menus Use the 'Sort Hint' field to organize how your menu items display. Items display from the lowest number to the highest. Left to right for main menus and top to bottom for each sub-menu.
Login Redirect You can control where your customers land after they log into their accounts through a menu (or article link). For example, if you have a menu item called My Account, you may want to redirect customers to a specific page once they login.
You cannot link to a page that is not enabled for the WebSales group:
You can also redirect to an event, bundle, article, miscellaneous item or gift. To create these types of links, use the 'Build Link' button on the Articles|Text page. Search for the item you want to use, and add login.asp?targetpage= in front of the link in the 'Link' field.
