•A Note on Delivery Method Strategy
Worksheet Use this worksheet to plan your delivery method configuration before you start building them.
For more information about configuring delivery methods, refer to General Configuration - Delivery Methods. |
Delivery methods control how your customers receive their tickets and miscellaneous items. Think about the delivery methods you currently use. Do you use terms like Email or Print-at-Home? Is Will Call an option, or do you prefer to name it Pick Up In Person?
Unless an order contains nothing but a gift/donation, all orders require some form of a delivery method. You can set a default delivery method for each role, so you could set email/print-at-home for any orders created online using the Internet role.
While it isn’t necessary, you should already have your roles and charges (delivery fees) configured when you create a delivery method. You can always add both of these items afterward too.
These are the different ‘Types’ of delivery methods:
•Delivered: Staff will print items to be mailed/couriered. Orders need customers with addresses attached.
•Download: Customers will need to download a PDF file with their tickets and miscellaneous items immediately after completing the order. The file doesn’t download automatically.
•Email: Customers receive a PDF file containing tickets and miscellaneous items after completing the order.
•None: There are no tickets to issue. This delivery method is useful for miscellaneous item orders that don’t include tickets.
•Pick Up Later: Used when the tickets are to be printed in the future, closer to the event.
•Pick Up Now: Tickets are immediately printed on ticket stock or regular paper, depending on your configuration.
You can limit delivery methods based on the event start dates so that two weeks before an event, the Mail delivery method is no longer available. When an order contains multiple events, determining which delivery methods are available is based on the date of the first event in the order.
You can also enable or restrict delivery methods based on the customer’s location so you can limit a delivery method like Courier to the same state or province that your venue is in.
Make sure that you familiarize yourself with the delivery method strategy by reading the product documentation. By default, your system is set to Union, meaning that the system will offer all available delivery methods across all products in the shopping cart to your customer.
