When you click the 'Build Link' button on the Content Management - Article|Text page and select one of the options from the dropdown, the following fields appear in the pop-up (in addition to the search fields):

Description

Context Type

This field only appears when building an Article link.

The context of the article you are linking to.

If you select a 'Context Type' and then select a Template or Template with Search article, another window will appear, allowing you to search for and select the item that you want information to be pulled from:

Bundle

Event

Miscellaneous Item

Gift

Stored Value Item

Language

The language used.

Link

Once an item has been selected, the link to it appears in this field.

If you want to only use the link for online sales, then click 'Insert Link'.

Link Tag

This field only appears when building an Article link.

Once an article has been selected, a link tag to it appears in this field.

If you want use the article/link in the Desktop and online, then click 'Insert Link Tag'.

Link Name

Categorize the links that you embed in messages.

For example, you could select a 'Link Name' of Electronic to any links that are related to electronic music. Then you can create a Correspondence BI query using the Response Link Name criteria or a Customer BI query using the Correspondence Response Link Name criteria to target customers who clicked on an Electronic link.

The 'Link Names' are defined in the Link Name list. For more information, refer to Configuring Lists.

Caution

When users click on more than one link from an article in the same session, only the first link is registered in the audit; however, if they take further action after clicking the link (purchase the item) then the click-through is registered in the audit.

Permalink

This field only appears when building an Article link.

Displays the friendly URL that will be used for the selected article, if one has been configured in the Articles|Basic page 'Permalink' field.

caution_outline

Caution

Special characters (-, ., ', ", /, etc.) and spaces cannot be used in the 'Permalink' field. The corresponding article will not render properly Online.
