You may want to collect additional information when processing donations. Things like tribute and recognition information may change with each gift a donor gives during their history. Here we’ll show you the fields available and how to expose some of them online during the purchase flow so customers can provide their relevant details.
This configuration work takes place in General Configuration and the Registry. If you need to a reminder of the available fields on the Customer Services – Order|Gifts page, a description of the various fields is available in our product guides. If a gift is included as part of a bundle, you see the same information on the Customer Services – Order|Bundles|Gifts page.
None of the fields on the Order|Gifts page are visible online. Only Desktop users can to access and adjust those fields. If you want to have space for additional questions or collect more details, you can use the ten order gift ‘Marketing Data’ fields online. These fields will be the same for all of your donations.
A Note on Templates
You can see templates listed in the ‘Default Receipt Template’, ‘Default Receipt Thank You Letter’, ‘Donor Thank You Letter Template’ and ‘Referrer Thank You Letter Template’ dropdowns. These are entries in lists and don’t exist in the system as templates. When entering donations, select the appropriate template so that when you use the Utilities - Pledges to generate the information for tax receipts, you can search for and issue receipts for specific donations.
Field Customization
If any of the labels don’t work for you, you can change them. You will find the order specific fields for gifts in the Registry - Registry::EN::Business Objects::TSorderBO::Gifts node.
It’s also here in the Registry where you can expose any of the ten Order Gift Marketing Data fields to collect more information from your donors online.
