Much like contacts, links are also used to identify specific relationships. The difference is that  each customer has their own accounts, and no direct responsibility to each other.  

Using linked customers, you can track sales and markets more effectively. For instance, Customer A and Customer B both have children that go to the same school. Customer A purchases tickets to an upcoming event. You can now contact Customer B, to let him/her know that you have reserved tickets next to Customer A for the same show, giving him/her 48 hours to confirm.
