When you click the 'Build Link' button on the Correspondence - Messages|Build page and select one of the options from the dropdown, the following fields appear in the pop-up (in addition to the search fields):

 

Field

Description

Base Site URL

This field only appears when building an Article link.

The base URL that you would like to associate the link with from the dropdown.

Information

The 'Base Site URLs' are defined in the Site URLs list. For more information, refer Configuring Lists.

Language

The language with from the dropdown.

Link

Once an item has been selected, the link to it appears in this field.

Link Name

Categorizes the links that you embed in messages.

For example, you could select a 'Link Name' of Electronic to any links that are related to electronic music. Then you can create a Correspondence BI query using the Response Link Name criteria or a Customer BI query using the Correspondence Response Link Name criteria to target customers who clicked on an Electronic link. Information

The 'Link Names' are defined in the Link Name list. For more information, refer to Configuring Lists.

caution_outline

Caution

When users click on more than one link from an email in the same session, only the first link is registered in the audit; however, if they take further action after clicking the link (purchase the item) then the click-through is registered in the audit.

Because users have to log in to check Internal messages, links included in Internal messages are not added to the audit unless users log out or take further action after clicking the link (purchase the item).

Permalink

This field only appears when building an Article link.

Displays the friendly URL that will be used for the selected article, if one has been configured in the Articles|Basic page 'Permalink' field.

caution_outline

Caution

Special characters (-, ., ', ", /, etc.) and spaces cannot be used in the 'Permalink' field. The corresponding article will not render properly Online.

 

Communication Pref. Unsubscribe

This dropdown only appears when building an Article link, and if the Customer Communication Preferences list has been populated.

Marketing Pref. Unsubscribe

This dropdown only appears when building an Article link, and if the Customer Marketing Preferences list has been populated.

Message Sources Unsubscribe

This dropdown only appears when building an Article link, and if the Associations list has been populated.

Marketing Contact Unsubscribe

This field is not currently in use.

Campaign

This dropdown only appears if Analytics has been enabled for Correspondence.

A name for the email marketing campaign (Fall 2024 Newsletter) for use with Google Analytics.

Content

This dropdown only appears if Analytics has been enabled for Correspondence.

A brief description of the content of the email (20%-off Fall 2024 Events) for use with Google Analytics.

Medium

This dropdown only appears if Analytics has been enabled for Correspondence.

The medium used to communicate with customers for use with Google Analytics. In most cases this will be Email.

Source

This dropdown only appears if Analytics has been enabled for Correspondence.

The name of the company/list used to send the email to customers for use with Google Analytics. This is particularly important if your organization also uses an outside email marketing company.
