Typically tax receipts are printed in a batch using Utilities. However, you can manually generate a receipt using the Order|Gifts page if a payment has been allocated to the gift.
By manually generating a tax receipt, you can issue the receipt for an amount other than the receiptable amount. For example, if a gift stretches across fiscal years you may need to generate two tax receipts.
Once a receipt has been generated, for tracking purposes, the gift is considered received. Manually generating a tax receipt will not create a tax receipt number. A tax receipt number is only assigned if the tax receipt is generated from Utilities.

To manually generate a tax receipt:
1.Open Customer Services from the Desktop.
2.Select the Orders tab.
The Order|Search page appears.
3.Search for and select the order you want to generate a tax receipt for.
The Order|Summary page appears.
4.Select the Gifts tab.
The Order|Gifts page appears.
5.Select the gift that you want to generate a tax receipt for.
6.Click 'Add Receipt'.
A new receipt row appears.
7.Enter the receiptable amount, in the 'Receipt Amount' field The receipt amount cannot exceed the amount specified in the receiptable amount field in the gift details section.
A correspondence record will not be generated for the thank you letter.
8.If applicable, select a 'Receipt Template' and 'Thank You Letter Template'.
9.Click 'Apply'.
A window confirms that the order was updated.
10.Click 'OK'.
The 'Status' of the receipt is set to New and the 'Receipted Amount' displays the amount receipted.

You can only delete receipts with a status of New (manually generated or reissued via the Customer Services - Order|Gifts page).
If the receipt has a status of Printed (generated via the Utilities - Pledges|Tax Receipts page), you cannot delete the receipt. It will need to be voided or reissued instead.
To delete a receipt:
1.Open Customer Services from the Desktop.
2.Select the Orders tab.
The Order|Search page appears.
3.Search for and select the order that you want to work with.
The Order|Summary page appears.
4.Select the Gifts tab.
The Order|Gifts page appears.
5.Select the gift with the tax receipt that you want to delete.
6.Select the check box next to the receipts that you want to delete.
7.Click 'Apply'.
A window confirms that the order was updated.
8.Click 'OK'. |
