•Delivery Methods and Payment Methods and Promotions
•Promotions & Miscellaneous Items
•Promotions & Stored Value Items
Promotions can be associated with hold types, price charts and events. Once associated, these codes provide a way to enable access to these items:
•When assigned to a hold type, they provide a way, along with a role’s access to the hold type, to enable access to seats assigned by the hold type.
Hint To enable access to a hold type through the use of a promotion, the promotion must also be assigned to the applicable role(s) on the price chart as well. |
•When assigned to price charts, they provide a way to offer different prices. The availability is also dependent on the role and price type.
•When assigned to an event, they provide a way to enable access to the event. The availability is also dependent on the role and price type.
•When assigned to a bundle, they provide a way to enable access to the bundle. The availability is also dependent on the role and price type.
•When assigned to a miscellaneous item, they provide a way to enable access to the item. The availability is also dependent on the role and price type.
The following table describe how the different types of promotions behave when assigned to a price chart and event.
Promotion Type |
Description |
Promotion Code |
Promotion codes are promotions that are typically associated to a benefit. Once associated to a benefit, the benefit can be associated to a customer’s account (through a membership or manual assignment). Assuming that an order was created with the appropriate role for a customer holding a benefit that has the appropriate promotion, the promotions behave as follows: •When promotions are associated to a price chart, customers who have the benefit will automatically gain access to the price chart assuming the appropriate price type is used. The customer must be associated to the order before selecting the relevant event to gain access to the price chart. •When promotions are associated to an event, only customers who have the benefit will be able to access the event.
For hold types, if the role has access to the hold type, the role will always have access to the held seats. If the role does not have access to the hold type, assigning the appropriate customer to the order enables the user to access the held seats. |
Promotion Access Code |
Promotion access codes are codes that users/customers must manually enter to access the associated item. Assuming an order was created with the appropriate role, external codes behave as follows: •When promo codes are associated to a price chart, customers/users must enter the promo code on the order to access the price chart, assuming the appropriate price type is used. Thepromo code must be entered before associating an event with the order. •When promo codes are associated to an event, customers/users must manually enter the code before to access the event. The promo code must be entered before associating an event to the order.
For hold types, if the role has access to the hold type, the role will always have access to the held seats. If the role does not have access to the hold type, assigning the appropriate promotion to the order enables the user to access the held seats. |
When an article is associated with a promotion and a customer enters the promo code in the Promotion box online, a link to the associated article will appear. The article can be configured/written to display the events or items that the customer has access to or to describe the benefits that the customer has been granted.
Information Only the link to the most currently entered promo code is displayed. |
Articles are associated with promotions when the promotion is created.
Promotions can be used to add delivery methods to an order that would not normally be available, and remove payment methods from an order that would normally be there. The following rules describe this functionality:
•Additional delivery methods appear on an order when a promotion is used if:
othe promotion allows the delivery method
othe roles allows the delivery method
•Payment methods are restricted on an order when a promotion is used if:
oall promotions entered allow the payment method
oevery event on the order allows the payment method
othe roles allows the payment method
Caution If all of these rules are not true, users will not be able to create a payment. |
Delivery and payment methods associated with promotions are defined when the promotion is created. For more information, refer to Creating a Promotion.
Promotions on benefits can be used to give customers access to unlock items and discounts and items benefits that they would otherwise not be able to see.
Caution If a benefit has an associated promotion(s) it will expire on the benefit's 'Valid Until' date or the promotion's 'Ending Date', which ever comes first. |
Information Promotions attached to a customer via a benefit are automatically applied when the customer's account is opened or when the customer logs in online. If a benefit is added to the customer, the promotion becomes effective immediately. |
To enable promotions through memberships, a benefit must first be created with an associated promotion. Then the benefit must be associated with the membership.
Information If the benefit's 'End Date' is further out than the membership's 'End Date' the benefit will remain active even after the membership has expired. |
Promotions and promo codes can be used to give customers access to bundles that they would otherwise not be able to see.
Promotions along with promo codes and their associated promotions can be automatically exposed to a customer if the customer account holds the code. The customer must be associated to the order before the promotion is exposed.
