Commission, service charge and tax are all considered to be types of charges, and have the combined features of both a charge and a tax. By defining the type of charge, the differentiation amongst charges can be used for the separation of commissions, service charges and taxes in application user interfaces.
Charges can be configured so that a charge can be added on top of other charges at a lower level or they can be configured so that they do not add additional charges to other charges that are applied to items.
Reports determine the difference between the different charge types to maintain accurate reporting for commissions, service charges and taxes.
